Dr. To report a case of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT). A 39-year-old man with extramacular circumscribed choroidal hemangioma presented with a visual acuity of 0.4. Tumor height was 3.1 mm with B scan ultrasonography. Standard PDT was applied. Periodic follow-up was performed with ophthalmoscopy, fundus fluoresein angiography, and ultrasonography. Vertoporfin 6 mg/m2 was given as an intravenous infusion over 10 minutes. A diode laser with an intensity of 600 mW/cm2 was applied for 83 seconds (50 J/cm2) 5 minutes after the completion of infusion. The visual acuity improved to 1.0 at 3 months. There were no complications during the one-year follow-up and visual acuity remained stable. PDT is an effective and safe method in the treatment of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma.
