Material and Methods: The cases treated with PPV and Densiron for the management of retinal detachment with inferior breaks (RDWIB)were reviewed for stastistical analyses.
Results: Re-attachment was achieved in 18 cases of 19 with single PPV.(Success rate:95%) BCVA improved to 0.89±0.67 from 2.63±0.75 logMar after treatment.Complications such as intraocular pressure rise, cataract, inflammatory reaction, macular epiretinal membrane, emulsification of silicone were seen after treatment.
Conclusion: It can be emphasised that Densiron is efficient and safe in the management of RDWIB. It can be useful particularly in disability of postoperative posturing, when the proliferative vitreoretinopathy risk is high, and when a rigorous posturing is necessary as in the case of inferior retinectomy.
