New Molecules in Age Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), especially in the wet
AMD group, has become the leading cause of visual impairment
with increased life expectancy. Following the Argon Laser Photocoagulation,
which is a historical event, Photodynamic Therapy
aims to protect and reduce vision loss, however with the help
of anti-VEGF agents it is possible for the fi rst time to increase
visual acuity.After the development of limited eff ective anti-VEGF agents in the enhancement of visual acuity, other molecules that are eff ective in the pathophysiological mechanisms of the disease and new treatment protocols are intensively studied. This article aims to update the information through these studies.
