3Uz. Dr., T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı Hitit Üniversitesi Çorum Erol Olçok Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Yenidoğan, Çorum, Türkiye Purpose: To compare ocular and cerebral blood fl ow parameters between infants who had retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) with plus disease and infants who did not have any sign of ROP and plus disease.
Materials and Methods: A total of 33 cases were studied. Group 1 included 23 infants who had Zon 2 stage 3 ROP with plus disease, group 2 included 10 infants who did not have ROP and/or plus disease. Ophthalmic artery (OA) and median cereabral artery (MCA) were evaluated during measurements. Peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), mean velocity (MV), pulsatility index (PI) and resistivity index (RI) were recorded.
Results: Gestational age and birth weight did not signifi cantly differ between the groups (p=0.69, p=0.91, respectively). For OA; PSV, EDV, MV, PI and RI values were 45.35±14.25 cm/s, 7.83±4.14 cm/s, 19.00±4.35 cm/s, 0.64±0.13 and 0.83±0.07 in group 1, 37.40±5.02 cm/s, 9.70±1.49 cm/s, 18.68±3.38 cm/s, 0.48±0.06 and 0.71±0.11 in group 2, respectively. TSH (p=0.034), Pİ (p<0.001) and Rİ (p<0.001) in OA did signifi cantly differ between the groups. For MCA; PSV, EDV, MV, PI and RI values were 62.60±13.46 cm/s, 13.43±4.30 cm/s, 31.91±7.22 cm/s, 0.58±0.12 and 0.77±0.07 in group 1, 68.70±20.41, 19.60±8.36, 38.40±13.59, 0.51±0.08 and 0.71±0.06 in group 2, respectively. EDV (p=0.008) and RI (p=0.028) in MCA did signifi cantly differ between the groups.
Conclusion: There were signifi cant changes of ocular and cerebral blood fl ow parameters between premature infants with Zon 2 stage 3 ROP with plus disease and premature infants who did not have ROP and/or plus disease.
