Fırat Üniversitesi Tıp Fak.Göz Hast.A.D. Elazığ Purpose: To report a case with choroidal osteoma associated with choroidal neovascularization (CNV).
Case report: A 13-year-old boy who sought medical help for blurred vision in left eye. His medical history was unremarkable. Visual acuities were 10/10 in the right eye and 1/10 in the left eye. Anterior segment examination of both eyes was in normal limits. Funduscopic examination showed a well defined, slightly elaveted mass over the macula in the left eye. Fluorescein angiography demonstrated the tumour and CNV located beneath the left fovea. Ultrasonography showed hyperechoic choroidal mass that has acoustic shadowing in the left eye. Computerized tomography yielded radioopaque plaque of bone density in left eye.
Discussion: Choroidal osteoma is distinguished from other ocular tumors by clinical apperance and imaging of the lesion. Prognosis of the vision is variable. CNVs have been described in less than half of the reported eyes with choroidal osteomas. Patients must be followed for enlargement of the tumor and for especially choroidal neovascularization development. Keywords : Choroidal osteoma, CNV, Ocular tumors
