3GATA Tıp Fak. Göz Hst. A.B.D. In order to compare to Pattern VER (PVER), color vision, visual field and visual acuity tests in evaluating of optic neuropathies, we applied PVER, computarized visual field, Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test to 57 optic neuropathy patient submitted to GATA Ophthalmology Department between November 1991 -July 1993.
On 73 eyes of 57 patients, the abnormality in PVER was 98.4%, in visual field was 84.9, in color vision was 86.3%. The abnormality ratios of the tests were similar, except in 0.8-1.0 vision group. In this group (19 eyes) the abnormality in PVER was 100%, in visual field was 53 and in color vision was 47%. The difference between PVER and the other groups was significant. In the other eyes of unilateral optic neuropathies, abnormality of PVER was % 17.1, of color vision was % 14.6, of visual filed was % 2.4. In the patients we followed 3-18 months, PVER abnormality persisted more than others.
PVER are decided to be the most sensitive of these tests in diagnosis and follow-up of optic neuropathies, especially in better vision and subclinic groups. Keywords : Optik neuropathy, PVER, Visual field, Color Vision
