Pneumatic retinopexy is an alternative method in the treatment of rhegmatogeneuos retina detachment. Sulfurhexafluoride (SF6) and perfluopropane (C3F8) are being utilized for internal tamponad in this procedure. 80-98% success rate can be achieved in the treatment of retinal detachment with tear(s) located in the 2/3 rd upper quadrant. The most frequent postoperative complications leading to failure are new tears, proliferative vitreo-retinopathy and reactivation of the tamponated orijinal tear(s).
