Uludağ Üniv. Tıp Fak. Göz Hast AD. Pneumatic retinopexy is an alternative method in the treatment of rhegmatogeneuos retina detachment. Sulfurhexafluoride (SF6) and perfluopropane (C3F8) are being utilized for internal tamponad in this procedure. 80-98% success rate can be achieved in the treatment of retinal detachment with tear(s) located in the 2/3 rd upper quadrant. The most frequent postoperative complications leading to failure are new tears, proliferative vitreo-retinopathy and reactivation of the tamponated orijinal tear(s).
