Surgical Techniques And Results Of Retinal Detachments Associated With Holes In Outer And Inner Wall Of Retinoschisis Cavity
SSK Ankara Göz Hastanesi, 2. Göz Kliniği
17 eyes of 15 cases of retinal detachment complicated with degenerative and congenital retinoschisis were operated by using scleral buckling, cryopexy external drainage. Intravitreal perfluoropropane injection were performed in 10 eyes for internal tanponade. Detachments were associated with holes both in the outer and inner wall of the retinoschisis cavity in 15 eyes. Intraoperatively reattachment was obtained in 16 of 17 eyes. In 2 of these 16 eyes retinal detachment recurred after 1 week postoperatively. The eye which remained detached after the first operation and one of the recurrent eyes were operated second time by using vitrectomy technique and silicone oil were used. External subretinal drainage and perfluoropropane injection were performed in other recurrent eye. Following additional surgery retinas were eventually reattached. As a result visual acuity increased in 14 of 17 eyes (82.3%).
