Purpose: To report bilateral premacular subhyaloid hemorrhage after aseptic meningitis in a baby.

Methods: A 14-month old male baby presented with bilateral subhyaloid hemorrhage that developed after meningitis. Extensive systemic work up and coagulation studies were unremarkable except for the presence of aracnoid cysts in the brain. The baby underwent bilateral pars plana vitrectomy after a 3 weeks follow up for spontaneous resolution of the subhyaloid hemorrhage.

Results: The visual acuity of the patient was increased based on fixation and follow the objects into various gaze positions.

Conclusion: This is the first reported case of bilateral subhyaloid hemorrhage after aseptic meningitis in a baby. This case emphasizes the importance of complete fundus examination in patients with meningitis and proper treatment of subhyaloid hemorrhage in children. Keywords : Aseptic meningitis, baby, bilateral subhyaloid hemorrhage, vitrectomy.
