2Özel Retina Göz Hastalıkları ve Laser Dal Merkezi, İzmir Purpose: We described a case of bilateral spontaneous subhyaloid haemorrhage resulting from aplastic anemia which is rarely reported in the literature.
Case Report: A 17-year-old male patient was referred to our clinic with decreased visual acuity in both eyes and subconjunctival haemorhage in his right eye. He had no history of ocular disease or trauma. Fundus examination revealed the presence of bilateral subhyaloid haemorrhage, Roth's spots and haemorrhages around the optic nerve head. Laboratory investigations showed severe aplastic anemia. After two months, resolution of the subhyaloid haemorrhages occured spontaneously with partial recovery of vision. No specific surgical or medical intervention was required.
Conclusion: In cases of aplastic anemia, retinal hemorrhagic complications especially of preretinal and superficial nerve layer localization may show spontaneous resolution with minimal sequalea.
