Temporary Keratoprosthesis For Combined Penetrating Keratoplasty and Vitreoretinal Surgery
Beyoğlu Göz Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İstanbul
Case Report: In this study, a 22 year-old case, to whom penetrating keratoplasty combined with temporary keratoprosthesis and pars plana vitrectomy performed, due to posttraumatic serious corneal opacity and posterior segment patology is reported. In this case, after surgery performed to repair anterior segment patology, postoperative endophthalmitis and retinal detachment developed. Although trauma associated corneal and lens injuries are seen frequently; postoperative endophthalmitis and retinal detachment are observed seldomly. Since it enables to manage serious anterior, as well as posterior segment injuries at the same time and can result in early visual rehabilitation; penetrating keratoplasty combined with temporary keratoprosthesis and vitreoretinal surgery is a suggested method.
