Materials and Methods: MP-1 microperimetry analysis of fixation patterns in eyes with finger counting from 1 meter to 10/10 visual acuity. The preferred retinal locus (PRL) location was also determined. Included were 38 eyes of 19 patients with GA.

Results: Fourty-four percent (12 of 27 eyes) of the eyes had an established PRL. Among them three eyes (25%) placed the scotoma above the fixation, 3 (25%) eyes placed it to the left and 6 (50%) eyes placed it to the right. Fifteen eyes (39.4%) with stable fixation in the other eye did not established PRL. Fixation was unstable in all these 15 eyes.

Conclusion: Our results showed that the fixation pattern of the other eye affect the establisment of PRL in patient with GA. Our results also showed that the scotoma could be the left, right or above but not the below of the PRL.
