Gülhane Askeri Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları A.D., Ankara
A 32-year-old male patient applied to our service due to decrease in his vision for 10 days. It was diagnosed bilateral subretinal abscess because of gray-yellow elevated lesions with hemorrhagic spots on both fundus. Owing to minimal change nephropathy, patient has been using streroids for 6 months. Radiologic and biochemical research, vitreous biopsy were failed to determine the etiologic agent. Retinal biopsy was performed to right eye. Retinal biopsy yielded positive culture for diphteroid rod. Patient gained his systemic healty condition after application of bactrim, vancomycin and imipenem intravenously. Diphteroid rods can cause subretinal abscess in immunocompromised patients.
