3Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Göz Hastalıkları A.D., İzmir, Prof. Dr. Toxaemia of pregnancy, occurs usually in the third trimester of pregnancy and may be the cause of severe visual loss. The serous retinal detachment in toxemia of pregnancy is attributed to choroidal vascular insufficiency. Fundus autofluorescence is a non-invasive imaging technique that enables the visualization of lipofuscin material in the retinal pigment epithelium. Serous retinal detachment in acute toxemia of pregnancy causes hypoautofluorescence, due to accumulation of subretinal fluid. We present hereby autofluorescence imaging characteristics of three cases with various severity of retinal involvement secondary to toxemia of pregnancy.
