Experimental studies in the last decade have shown that replacement of these highly specialized retinal cells with stem cells of nonocular or ocular origin could be feasible and effective. The fact that mesenchymal stem cells are easy to available and associated with less ethical problems make this type of SC treatment preferable for this purpose. Retinal SC treatment in the current is in its infancy; however, its potential to cure these otherwise blinding disease is huge.
In accordance with recent developments, we did experiments to acquire necessary skills of this promising treatment. In this review, we intent to share our experiences and update the SC treatment in the retina. Keywords : Stem cells, retina
