Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Göz Hastalıkları A.D., Adana, Prof. Dr.
Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) is a retinal vascular disease that develops due to various systemic and ocular risk factors. In ischcemic form of both of these vein occlusions laser photocoagulation is effective in preventing the development of neovascularization. Grid laser treatment is an efficient method in macular edema (ME) due to BRVO wheras it is known to be ineffective in CRVO. İntravitreal triamcinolone and anti-vascular endothelial growth factors is being used for the treatment of ME due to CRVO and BRVO, retreatment is necessary. Various surgical methods have been tried for the treatment of retinal vein occlusion but still an effective approach is not available.
