RISKS FOR PROLIFERATIVE VITRORETINOPATHY DEVELOPMENT AFTER RETINAL DETACHEMENT
Şişli Eftal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi
Purpose : To evaluate the preoperative risk factors for devolopment of postoperative PVR after retinel detachement surgery. Methods : We evaluated 70 eyes of 70 patients with diagnosis of rhegmatogeneus retinal detachement requiring surgical interrvention. While conventional and DACE interventions for chorioretinal adhesion, we used cryopexy. During vitroretinal surgery for intraoperative retinal flatening we used PFC liquids for tamponade silicone oil and expansile gas SF6. Chorioretinal adhesions were accomplished by cryo and endophotocoagulation. Patient mean follow up period was abaut 32.8 months.
Results : In this study most of patients undergoing retinal detachement surgery in preoperative period had lesions with high risk for postoperative PVR devolopment. Except for ] 6% (11 eye), high risk eyes postoperative devoloped PVR in out 37.2% (22 eye).
Conclusion : Eyes with retinal detachements due to giant tear, missed tear, horse shoe tear, total retinal detachement and problems with posterior pole visualization and preoperalive. PVR findings are at risk for postoperative PVR devolopment and reoperation for unsufailed previous retinal detachement surgery.
