2M.D. Professor, Special Kariyer Eye Hospital, Isparta/TURKEY Purpose: To compare measurements of central retinal thickness (RT) obtained with optical low coherence reflectometry (OLCR) and spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in healthy subjects.
Methods: Thirty-nine eyes of 39 subjects (51.3% male, 48.7% female) without any ocular and systemic disease had central RT measurements. Measurements with OLCR and SD-OCT were repeated 3 times.
Results: The mean RT measurements; with OLCR was 195.02±11.78 (173.3-219.6) μm, and with SD-OCT was 222.96±11.34 (205-255) μm. The mean difference between OLCR and SD-OCT RT measurements was 27.94±8.68 μm (p=0.001; p<0.01). There were, high positive correlation (r=0.719; p=0,001; p<0.01), high agreements (95% LoA lower limit 10.91 upper limit 44.96) and good correlation (r>0.90, p<0.05) between OLCR and SD-OCT RT measurements.
Conclusion: In healthy subjects central RT measurements; derived from OLCR and SD-OCT, exhibit a high positive relation, strong correlation and good agreement.
