The study is planned to investigate and classify the indocyanine green angiographic findings of occult choroidal neovascularizations. Digital indocyanine green angiography was performed in 57 eyes of 39 patients with occult choroidal neovascularization. Digital indocyanine green angiography images of patients with occult choroidal neovascularizations were classified in five major groups as focal spots, plaques, plaque and focal spot combinations, multiple spots and hypofluorescent lesions. Late phase digital indocyanine green angiography images revealed that 12 eyes (21.1%) exhibited focal spots, 29 eyes (50.8%) exhibited plaques and 10 eyes (17.5%) exhibited plaque and focal spot combinations. Multiple spots were present in 5 eyes (8.8%). There was no lesion in 1 eye (1.7%) and hypofluorescent lesions were not present in any eyes. In 25 eyes (43.8%) potentially treatable lesions were demonstrated by digital indocyanine green angiography. Indocyanine green angiography plays an important role in the evaluation, classification and laser treatment of occult choroidal neovascularizations. We think that indocyanine green angiography is indicated in eyes with occult choroidal neovascularization.
