Uludağ Üni. Tıp Fak. Göz Hastalıkları AD. We studied retrospectively the records of 208 patients (223 eyes) operated for retinal detachment between 1984 and 1993.
Of the 223 eyes, 150 were phakic, 53 aphakic and 20 pseudophakic. The most frequent procedure performed was scleral buckling combined with local indentation (91%). Mean follow up time was 2.4 year. Reattachment was achieved in 83.3% of the phakic eyes and in 85% and 75.5% of the aphakic and pseudophakic eyes respectively. We achieved 10/100 or better vision in 60.8% of phakic, 63.1% aphakic and 61.1% of pseudophakic eyes. The most frequent complication in the post operative period was proliferative vitreoretinopathy (17 eyes, %7.6) .
