Materials and Methods: 94 eyes of 52 patients with ARMD enrolled into the study. FA and ICGVA were performed in the same day or maximum three days interval. Findings were evaluated by two different retinal specialists. By comparing FA and ICGVA findings, we tried to find out the type of patients in which ICGVA would be useful for diagnosis of SRNVM.
Results: Mean age of patients was 72.74 ± 8.61 years. FA revealed drusen in 31 eyes, classic SRNVM in 14 eyes, occult SRNVM in 27 eyes, occult and classic SRNVM in 22 eyes. In ICGVA; no abnormality was present in 29 eyes, while plaque was observed in 45, mixed lesions in 20 eyes. No cases of isolated hot spot was found. For the diagnosis of SRNVM, 4 eyes FA and ICGVA findings were similar in 84 eyes (89.37%). Indication for laser photocoagulation was performed in 5 (5.32%) eyes which were not considered to be eligible for treatment based on FA findings.
Conclusion: FA and ICGVA findings were usually similar in cases of ARMD with SRNVM. ICGVA could be useful for identification of a small percentage of cases eligible for laser treatment.
