Materials and Methods: 40 eyes of 30 patients with ARMD having subfoveal choroidal neovascular membrane enrolled to study. FA and ICGVA were performed to eyes in same session or in within three days. FA and ICGVA measurements were performed with Zeiss FF 450 plus fundus camera and Visupac 2 digital imaging system. Membranes were divided in three groups as classic, occult and mixed; the largest diameter of membrane was measured in early phase of FA. Measurements of lesions determined in ICGVA were obtained in late phase of angiograms. Means of measurements of largest diameters in FA and ICGVA were obtained and compared with nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank test.
Results: In 10 eyes classic, in 23 eyes occult and in 7 eyes mixed lesions were determined in FA. The mean largest diameter of lesions was 4.26 ± 2.18 mm in classic membrane group in FA, the mean largest diameter of those lesions was 4.57±2.29 mm in ICGVA and the difference was statistically insignificant (p=0.074). Mean largest diameter of mixed lesions was 5.25 ± 1,58 mm in FA, mean diameter of those eyes in ICGVA was 4.75 ± 1.03 mm and the difference was statistically insignificant (p= 0.24). The mean largest diameter of occult membranes was 3.84 ± 1.49 mm in FA, the mean largest lesion diameter of those eyes was 3.40 ± 1.39 mm in ICGVA and difference was not statistically significant (p= 0.54).
Conclusion: There is no difference between the largest diameters of subfoveal choroidal neovascular membranes measured in FA and ICGVA.
